Taupo’s Biggest Loser was an opportunity for business teams of four to come together for a six-week team building exercise to challenge each other with an aim to not only to lose as much weight as possible during that time, but to also leave the promotion feeling fitter and leading a more healthy lifestyle.
144 people participated in the event, they were wanting to work together in a team building exercise to adopt a fitter, healthier lifestyle with the chance to compete in a competition that was offering thousands of dollars worth of prizes along the way with the potential to win a $20,000 donation to their chosen charity.
Participants took part in weekly weigh-ins based on percentage of body fat lost and the team that lost the most weight at the completion of six weeks was crowned “Taupos Biggest Losers”.

What the participants had to say;
“At 31 years of age and a former identified pre-diabetic, reaching my 50th birthday wasn’t a sure thing. But with the help of some special people I lost 13kgs and our team lost a combined total of almost 50kgs. As a result my lifestyle, future and indeed Taupo are moving forward for the better thanks to the Biggest Loser”

“I set myself a goal and achieved it with the help of Biggest Loser 2010. Born with Bilateral Talipes. I broke one of my ankles in 2003 and have had various bone chips and torn ligaments repaired and have been diagnosed with RSD, yet to have another torn ligament repaired and a metal plate or screws placed in the ankle the competition made me determined and I strapped it up twice a week for the 10 bootcamps. I thoroughly enjoyed challenging myself, setting new goals throughout the time and with all the support I received during the Biggest Loser. 6.9kg is a lot to lose with someone who has difficulties with everyday life but I must say the benefits of doing so are absolutely amazing!!!”
