Seeking local charities to benefit from celebrity boxing event

100% Lake Taupo Charitable Trust will be presenting the 4th “Zero Risk King of the Ring” charity boxing event in Taupo at the end of the year, and organisers are now seeking local charities who wish to be considered to benefit from the event.

“For 2015, we are inviting Taupo charities to submit an application to be considered for two fundraising opportunities associated with the event,” explains Event Manager, Brent Marshall.

“Groups can register to either work at the event and receive a fixed donation of $2500 for their duties, or be matched with a Boxer and undertake fundraising activities as part of the build-up to the event. The boxer/charity pair that raise the most funds will receive a bonus donation of $10,000 from 100% Lake Taupo Charitable Trust.”

With 3 fundraising opportunities for each boxer/charity pair (Text Donation, Charity Auction, and Fundraise Online), organisers are expecting that local groups can raise upwards of $3000 each.

“We are also offering an added bonus donation of $1000 for any group that raises over $4000 from their fundraising activities,” said Mr Marshall, “so there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and raise some funds. The Charity Auction will be advertised nationally and is a great way to generate new funds from people who want to support but are unable to attend the event on 5 December 2015.”

In 2013, the 16 groups who fundraised alongside a boxer collectively raised nearly $70,000 and an additional $21,000 was paid in bonus donations.

Both the charity and the boxer will have two months to actively promote their fundraising activities, and 100% Lake Taupo Charitable Trust will be promoting the auction and other fundraising projects through local media.

Registrations have opened and local not-for-profit groups or charities have until 31 July to register their interest. A panel will then decide the 21 groups who will be involved, and they will be advised by the end of August.
